Cortney Davis

Hi I'm Cortney, a senior majoring in Family Social Science and Minoring in Family Violence Prevention. I work at the Design of Medical Devices Conference on campus and am a TA for the Rothenberger Institute for the course Sexuality Matters. I enjoy spending time with children, volunteering in my community, and spending time with family and friends!

 

 

 

Megan Pieters

I consider myself a life-long learner and am passionate about education and equity and diversity. I studied Family Social Science and Spanish at the U of M and now work in College of Education and Human Development.

 

 

 

 

 

Mai Vang

I love to cook various food (Italian, Korean, Hmong) as a hobby. When I get comfortable with people I become more talkative and outgoing. However, I'm a hardworker when I need to get specifc tasks or assignments done.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alyssa Raschick

I am a senior studying marketing at the Carlson School of Management. I am very excited to get to experience the Puerto Rican culture and get out of the cold for a few weeks!

I am a senior majoring in Youth Studies. My hobbies include hanging out with friends, playing sports, and eating candy. My favorite movie is Nacho Libre and I LOVE THE VIKINGS! Skol!

Sarina Ghani

I am currently a junior at the UofM studying Sports Management and Mass Communications. I have a very big family (I am both Italian and Indian so that would explain why), all of whom are extremely important to me. I enjoy children and volunteer at the childrens hospital once a week during the school year. I love exploring the beautiful outdoors along with traveling and experiencing new adventures. This summer I will be taking off on a month long backpacking trip through Europe with my best friend and I could not be more thrilled for it. I am also looking forward to Puerto Rico and all it has to offer (and to escape the tundra for a few glorious weeks!).

 

 

 

Sam Perry

I grew up in Saint Paul. After high school I won a scholarship to study in Russia. I am a global studies major. I recently just got back from a semester abroad in Venezuela. I work as an EMT. 

 

 

 

 

Leidy Kasper

I am a senior at the University of Minnesota majoring in Family Social Science and minoring in Public Health. I identify as an Afro Latina and I was born in Colombia. I am extremely excited to learn about the various rich cultures of Puerto Rico and I hope to apply my experiences on this trip to my future career as a social worker. 

 

 

 

 

Chloe Villegas

I am a senior at the University of Minnesota majoring in African American & African Studies. My research interest and area of study are rooted in my quest to understanding and uncovering my ancestral heritage as an Afro-Puerto Rican women and what my identity means to society today. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest side. Humboldt Park holds a special place in my heart because this is where a large population of Puerto Ricans and African Americans in Chicago, call home. My post-undergraduate plans will be to return to my hometown, teach and mentor students that have a similar background as myself in order to give back what was given to me. 

 

 

Hannah Flor

I'm a Junior at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I'm majoring in Human Resources Development and Business Marketing Education and I'm minoring in Human Resources and Industrial Relations and Sociology. I enjoy meeting new people, traveling, and learning about cultures different than mine, which is why I'm ecstatic for this study abroad opportunity! 

 

 

 

 

 

Chris Hipp

I am a student at the University of Minnesota graduating in the spring of 2015. I am studying computer science and looking to join the workforce in May. During this trip I hope to learn more about the culture of Puerto Rico.

 

 

 

 

Samuel Dudovitz

I’m a sophomore at UMD and I am from southwest Minneapolis. I’m in the business school at UMD and I’m majoring either in finance or economics I still haven’t made my decision. I am excited for this trip and the new experiences I will have. I’m excited to be wearing shorts everyday and bathing in the sun.
